Congratulations! 🎉 Downloading Lion Accountability Browser is the first step to building better browsing habits.
To make the most out of Lion, we recommend setting up a few parental controls in iOS Screen Time. These settings will help you or your child stay accountable and maintain a safe browsing environment.
💡 Pro Tip: We recommend having a parent or accountability partner set these up and create a Screen Time passcode to prevent changes.
1. Disable Safari
Since Lion is designed to be your only browser, we recommend disabling Safari to ensure browsing is limited to a monitored and accountable environment.
How to disable Safari:
- Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions
- Tap Allowed Apps
- Toggle Safari off
2. Disable the App Store or Enable “Ask to Buy”
If unrestricted, the App Store allows access to download other browsers. You can either disable the App Store entirely or require approval before installing new apps.
Option 1: Disable App Store
- Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions
- Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases
- Set Installing Apps to “Don’t Allow”
Option 2: Require “Ask to Buy” (Best for kids under 18 with Family Sharing)
- Go to Settings > Your Apple ID > Family Sharing
- Select the child’s account
- Tap Ask to Buy and enable it
3. Adjust the Detection Level
Lion offers the option to adjust the detection level to be more sensitive if needed
How to adjust detection level:
- Open Lion Browser
- Go to Settings > Parental Controls > Detection Level
- Select the Detection Level that suits your needs
4. Set up History Log Reports
Lion offers the option to receive daily or weekly entire history reports via email
How to enable history reports:
- Open Lion Browser
- Go to Settings > Parental Controls > History Log Email
- Turn it on by tapping the switch
- Tap on History Log Email Frequency
- Select a frequency that suits your needs
5. Set a Parental Controls PIN
To make it so that the user who is using Lion cannot change the settings you have set, it is recommended to add a Parental Controls PIN
How to enable a parental controls PIN:
- Open Lion Browser
- Go to Settings > Parental Controls
- Tap on Set Parental Controls PIN at the bottom
- Enter a PIN (make sure to write it down somewhere)
- Tap Save
